As the Prep Basketball season forms into the home-stretch, another Putnam Science Academy Lady Mustang will be playing basketball at the next level.
First-year guard Helena Dellaruelle from Paris, France, has made a significant impact for Derek Marchione’s Mustangs this season as a gritty, on-ball defender with elite quickness to get to the hoop.
Dellaruelle, just like the other six Mustangs on the team from the class of 2019, received a scholarship to play the sport she loves at the University of New Hampshire.
Marchione’s team has seen Fatima Lee (Providence), Trinasia Kennedy (Marist), Ariana Koivisto (Southern New Hampshire), Kira Clinkscale (Becker), Amaya Santiago (Canisius), Xianna Josephs (Rhode Island) and now Dellaruelle (New Hampshire), all commit to take their talents to the college ranks.
Dellaruelle has made the most of her minutes in a Mustang uniform averaging 5.4 points per game, just over 2.5 assists a game all while leading the team in steals with 1.6 per. Helena, after a couple slow weeks, will look to pick up her play like she did earlier this year with a season-high 12 points against Life Center and 7 assists vs Blair.
