PUTNAM — Putnam Science Academy over the last several years has seen an influx of local talent put on the Mustang uniform. And now a Killingly standout is making the move to Putnam Science Academy.
Local student athletes have included former players Liam Jacobs from Plainfield and Dino and Dan Porcic. Jacobs earned a Division 3 Scholarship while at PSA and Dan Porcic enjoyed success before earning a Division 2 scholarship.
Local Killingly High School standout Luke Desaulnier has elected to try his hand and attend Putnam Science Academy as a post grad. He wants to raise his game and catch college coaches’ attention.
The 6-foot, 2-inch guard from Killingly scored more than 1,000 points in his basketball career as a Redmen and earned nine varsity letters while attending Killingly High School.
He led Killingly to an undefeated season which culminated into a Class M State Football Championship at the quarterback and kicker position.
The multi-sport athlete finished up his senior year ranked #5 in the state of Connecticut in points scored as a kicker along with three state championship titles to his name— one as mentioned in football and two on the Redmen golf team. As Desaulnier’s senior year came to an end and with Putnam Science Academy lined up next, Desaulnier would collect one more accolade before graduation being named Killingly High Schools Male Athlete of the Year in 2019.
