PUTNAM— Putnam Science Academy power forward Abou Ousmane made his college decision this past week when the 6-foot-, 9-inch New York native took to Twitter to announce he will be attending Cleveland State University next year.
Ousmane said, “First off I would like to take this opportunity to thank my friends and family for all the support they have given me over the years.” He also thanked former Putnam Science Academy big man and now a member of the UConn coaching staff, Mamadou Diarra, while also thanking PSA’s Varsity Head Coach Dana Valentine as mentors. Ousmane then thanked the coaches from his high school Paul Robeson and Putnam Science Academy before finishing his post with, “I would like to announce that I will be reclassifying back to the Class of 2019 and will be attending Cleveland State.”
He is a skilled big man with great footwork and showed he could control the paint this past season for the Mustangs as one of the first guys off the bench with a deep roster under Head Coach Tom Espinosa. Ousmane saw his minutes’ increase as the season rolled along thanks to his back to the basket game and his ability to finish at the rim while hustling down the floor for easy baskets. Abou become the 9th member of the 2019 Prep Mustang team to accept a full athletic scholarship.
