BOSTON — Four local students were named to the MCPHS University dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester: Nicholas Bennett, Danielson, pursuing a bachelor’s in predental-dental hygiene. Nicholas will graduate in 2018 from the Boston, Massachusetts campus; Cheyenne Perron, Danielson, pursuing bachelor’s in dental hygiene. Cheyenne will graduate in 2019 from the Worcester campus; Priya Patel, Hampton, pursing a bachelors in nursing, Priya will graduate in 2019 from the Worcester; Toni Ramos, Pomfret Center, pursuing a bachelor’s in nursing, will graduate in 2020 from the Boston.
Visits desert
WILLIMANTIC — Margalit Kaufman of Woodstock Valley, ’19, was one of 15 Eastern Connecticut State University students who recently returned from the American Southwest after studying desert ecology in a global field course (GFC) with the biology department. Kaurman is majoring in biology.
The course was an introduction to the study of desert ecology and biogeography. In the Mojave and Sonoran desert systems, students examined how environmental factors and biotic interactions shape the diversity and distribution of arid-adapted plant and animal communities from local to ecoregional scales. They evaluated how these communities are assembled over ecological and geological timescales.

PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. — Brendan McMerriman of Pomfret Center has been named to the Dean’s List at Paul Smith’s College for the fall 2018 semester. McMerriman is majoring in Parks and Conservation Management.
