PUTNAM — Aspinock Historical Society received a donation from the Putnam Bank Foundation, with the goal of strengthening the connection to Putnam’s history and stories.
Aspinock Historical Society will use this donation from the Putnam Bank Foundation to connect to the public with advertisements on WINY Radio and in the Putnam Town Crier.
Putnam Bank helps charitable organizations in local communities through the Putnam Bank Foundation. The foundation was established to help support cultural, educational, housing, health, social services and other types of charitable organizations working to make local communities better places to live.
The focus of donations from the Foundation is more on project support rather than for general operating expenses or “bricks and mortar” supplies.
By making donations to local charitable organizations, the Foundation is working to strengthen the connection between Putnam Bank and the communities serve.
Steps recently taken by the Aspinock Historical Society, in addition to the many things they have done over the years that have made impact, are: Joining and participating with the Putnam Business Association; joining The Last Green Valley including listing in TLGV’s Explore Guide; participating in local community events (such as First Fridays and Rotary’s Volunteerism Expo; offering AHS’s programs, based on feedback from the community for time, dates, topics; promoting further the popularity of and restoring the Boxcar Children Museum; continuing the tireless behind the scenes research done for many local businesses, organizations and individuals ; revamp & modernization of the AHS website: http://putnamaspinockhistsoc.com; creation and maintenance of AHS Facebook page, with a theme and plan of topics laid out for the entire year: www.facebook.com/AspinockHistoricalSociety; taking advantage of the spotlight shown on Putnam by historian and author David McCullough’s current best seller, “The Pioneers,” which features Putnam’s own Cutlers and the Cady-Copp Cottage, which was donated to the society
