PUTNAM — Chicago has its river dyed green this time of year. And Putnam had a fast moving green stream of its own March 13 — The Courthouse O’Putnam 5k.
Almost 1,000 competitors welcomed the race back after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Sunny but “crisp” was the weather backdrop for the race.
And there to greet them was a new course. Sheila Frost, co-owner of The Courthouse Bar and Grille and race organizer, said the new course ran along the River Trail. “It was very scenic and flat. Runners loved it!”
Nearly 1,000 took part but that was not a record. Frost said in 2018 there were nearly 1100 competitors. The weather was awful in 2019 and there was no race in 2020 or 2021. As in the past the Hartford Marathon Foundation partnered with the Courthouse.
