Glenda K. Risinger-Champagne
POMFRET CENTER — Glenda K. Risinger-Champagne, 73, of Pomfret, died June 26, 2024, at Mansfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Carl M. Champagne for more than 48 years.
Born in 1951 in Seagoville, Texas, she was the daughter of the late J.S. and Dorothy (Cooper) Risinger. She graduated from Seagoville High School, where she was captain of the Drill Team, and attended the University of Texas where she was a music major with a voice concentration. She received her bachelor’s in general studies from UConn and completed graduate coursework in Guided Imagery and Music at Temple University.
Mrs. Risinger-Champagne worked for many years as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and enjoyed traveling the world. Glenda also enjoyed singing and playing the piano, exploring indigenous cultures, and cooking for her family and friends. Before her MS became limiting, she was involved with Learning in Retirement at QVCC.
She leaves her husband, Carl M. Champagne; her daughter, Emily M. Champagne of Putnam; her son, Spencer W. Champagne, daughter-in-law, Shino, and grandson, Kai, of Lexington, Mass.; and her brother, C. David Risinger of Seagoville.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 27, in the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT 06260, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at noon, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Chapman.
