PUTNAM — The Town of Putnam has begun its search for a new recreation director. Longtime Parks and Recreation Director Wilfred “Willie” Bousquet is retiring in January.
In a letter, Putnam Mayor Barney Seney said: “It is with a mixture of gratitude and admiration that I write to congratulate Willie Bousquet on his well-deserved retirement after 36 years of dedicated service as our Recreation Director. Willie Bousquet will retire in January of 2025. Over the years he has not only overseen and enriched our recreational programs but has also brought a unique vision to the Town of Putnam. From the bandstand that has become a cherished local landmark, to the many events that have brought our community together, his contributions have shaped Putnam into a vibrant place that people want to visit, whether for our events or to experience the town’s restaurants and culture. His commitment and passion for the job have had a lasting impact, making Putnam a destination for both residents and visitors alike. We are incredibly thankful for your years of service and dedication to our town. You have left an enduring legacy and will be greatly missed. On behalf of the entire community, I wish Willie the absolute best in his retirement. May it be filled with happiness, relaxation, and new adventures.
