Air Line Trail
gets a boost
POMFRET — According to the minutes from a recent Board of Selectmen meeting, the next step in improvements to the Air Line Trail is underway.
The second round of the state’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP2) funding will allow wetlands to be flagged and some extensive topography work to be completed.
The trail bed will be improved between Pomfret and Putnam.
The project has been in the planning stages for a while and now enters the next phase of marking the wetland areas and getting an on-ground grasp of some tough topography challenges.
That is step one that needs to be done before machinery can start moving dirt around.
