Violations shut
down restaurant
PUTNAM — Empire Buffet on Providence Pike was closed last week due to fire code violations.
Putnam Fire Marshal Scott Belleville inspected the restaurant April 5 and ordered a temporary closure of the restaurant due to numerous fire code violations.
He said the violations present a safety hazard which prevents the use of commercial cooking equipment until the required testing and cleaning have been completed by a licensed contractor. A contractor was scheduled and it was expected that the restaurant reopened last weekend. Other conditions contrary to the CT Fire Safety code that do not affect commercial cooking operations were identified and are being addressed, Belleville said.
Belleville added, “The Putnam Fire Marshal’s Office will continue to work with representatives of the establishment to bring a successful outcome during the shut down and moving forward. We are committed to a safe and healthy environment for the residents and visitors of the town of Putnam.”
