PUTNAM — You might have mums in your yard but THESE are some mums.
Five massive pots of artificial mums now grace the hill at the intersection of Rt. 44 and Kennedy Drive.
The mums had been anchored in the Quinebaug River but Willie Bousquet, the town’s Parks and Rec director, said the display had used flotation pieces from the River Fire pots but those parts are not functioning so the display was put on the hill.
“Five was all we could fit there,” he said. The display will be up through Thanksgiving, he said.
The display is named Steve’s Blossoms.
He said the idea for the mums came from the late Steve Bousquet, a member of the Recreation Commission.
“He thought it would look nice,” Bousquet said. The Recreation Commission said they’d like to do it and his son, Kyle came onboard and an autumn tradition was born.
Bousquet said he’s already gotten a positive response to Steve’s Blossoms. “People are enjoying them.”
