Christ Church donates
to Daily Bread
Christ Church Pomfret recently presented a check to Karen Osbrey, president of the Board of Directors at IHSP. The money will be used to help with expenses at the Daily Bread Food Pantry in Putnam. The Church has been a long-time supporter of Daily Bread. Over the past few years, Christ Church has donated more than $5,000.
IHSP Daily Bread Food Pantry focuses on meeting the needs of food insecure families/individuals by supplementing their dietary needs with nutritious, healthy foods. One of the ways they do this is by providing guests with dairy, juice, and fresh/frozen fruits and vegetable coupons. When in season, guests also have the option of using Farmer’s Market Coupons at the Riverview Marketplace in Putnam. The coupons are distributed according to family size.
Food donations are always welcome. Items in continuous need are dry cereal, peanut butter, jelly, rice, canned or instant mashed potatoes, canned fruit, baked beans, vegetables, canned meats and tuna, soup, pasta and pasta sauce, crackers, and juice. Personal care items such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes (individually wrapped), toilet paper, and deodorant are also needed.
