Man arrested on assault charges
PUTNAM — A Putnam resident, Jamiel Andujar, was charged with assault after a report of a male bleeding with a serious head wound.
July 8, according to Putnam Police Department Chief Christopher D. Ferace, the Putnam Police Department responded to the area of Front Street and School Street in Putnam for the report of a male bleeding with a serious head wound.
A short time later the victim was found outside of a Riverfront Commons business on Kennedy Drive.
He was the victim of an assault with a blunt object. Putnam EMS responded, stabilized the victim, and transported him to Day Kimball Hospital for medical treatment.
Ferace said the suspect was apprehended in Putnam approximately one hour later by officers Chip Carney and Nick Ustin.
This assault was not random attack; it was the result of a previous incident between the two.
The victim was later transferred from Day Kimball Hospital to the UMass Medical Center. No further information is available currently.
Andujar, 20, of 55 Mechanic St., Putnam, was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace. All accused are innocent until proven guilty
