N. GROSVENORDALE — Earl Pina Sr., 78, of Riverside Dr., died suddenly Aug. 6, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Lisa R. (Smith) Pina.
Born in 1946 in Providence, he was the son of the late Bernadino and Edna (Lamoureux) Pina.
Earl served with the U.S. Army 31st Infantry from June 3, 1963, until being honorably discharged on Dec. 2, 1964.
He served overseas for nine and a half months during his enlistment.
Mr. Pina worked for many years as a driver for the Quiet Corner Transport.
Earl was a member of the American Legion Post 13 in Putnam, enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid fan of the New York Jets and all the UConn Husky sports teams.
He leaves his wife, Lisa Pina of N. Grosvenordale; his children, Earl Pina Jr. (Patricia) of Cranston, R.I., and Regina Rose Pina of Coventry, R.I.; his mother-in-law, Barbara Smith of Danielson; eight grandchildren, Geno Pina, Tyler Pina, James Pina, John Folcarelli, Alexander Pina, Jarrod Pina, Deanna Grenier, and Mariah Pina; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Josie Pina and his siblings, Benny Pina, Arthur Pina, Joe Pina, Frank Pina, Carol Burns, and Shirley Delgado.
A Celebration of Earl’s life will be from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Putnam Elks Lodge, 64 Edmond St., Putnam.
