PUTNAM --- Jan. 9 Putnam Police responded to Day Kimball Hospital on Pomfret Street for a report of a person in the parking lot with a firearm. No threats were made or implied. The hospital was placed into lockdown while the matter was investigated.
The person had left the hospital campus before the police arrived and after investigation, the lockdown was cancelled. The police, with the assistance of hospital security and staff, were able to identify the involved party. That person was legally in possession of the firearm and appears to have been in compliance with state statutes governing the carrying of firearms. Criminal charges are not anticipated.
