Margaret Irene Hart
POMFRET CENTER — Margaret Irene Hart, 79, of Pomfret Center, wife of Jay M. Hart, passed away peacefully April 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Haldean Reno and Margaret Louise (Small) Martin.
Born on July 2, 1945, in Oroville, Wash., (a small town near the Canadian border) to the late Haldean and Margaret (Small) Martin, Marge spent her younger years on the Martin homestead in Oroville before moving to Wenatchee, Wash., with her mom and younger sister where she attended junior and senior high school. In her later years, Marge made her home in Waterville, Wash., with her husband, Jay Hart, sharing five decades of marriage. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past September.
Marge was a devoted and hard-working mother. She held many jobs over the years but primarily worked in the restaurant industry managing various restaurants. She was also well known for making beautiful wedding cakes and cakes to celebrate other occasions. In her spare time, she enjoyed building puzzles, attending her grandchildren’s school and sports events, baking, making quilts, gardening and spending time with her family. Marge and Jay relocated to the East Coast in 2018 to be closer to their children and grandchildren, residing in Pomfret Center.
Besides her husband Jay, she leaves her children; Martin Hart, his wife Lisa and their children Kale, Maxtin and Ellen; Katina Bautz, her husband Donny and their children Kendyll and Sydney; Christopher Hart, his wife Jessica and Chris’s children Jordan and Brynn; her sister, Esther Wayne; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robin Hart; her parents Haldean and Margaret, and siblings Steven Martin, Vivian Kelly, Evelynn Hall, Arlene Jeske and David Martin.
A Gathering of Remembrance was April 20 at Seely-Brown Village on Deerfield Road, Pomfret Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon June 28, 2025, in Waterville, Wash.
