Wolperdinger to close
PUTNAM — A local independent bookshop in the Montgomery Ward building announced that they will close April 30. The owner plans to continue the Wolperdinger name as a pop-up in their new home state of Florida. Please make sure to stop by with your gift cards before April 30. The bookstore opened in August 2024 in the former Skeeter’s Toybox space. They carried new releases along with many popular genres including mystery, romance, biography, kids, and much more.

The Putnam Democratic Town Committee raised $3,600.00 to benefit Daily Bread and Interfaith Human Services of Putnam. The event featured six teams of celebrity bartenders competing for donations and drew an attendance of more than 200 people.

JEWETT CITY — Jewett City Savings Bank donated $130,000 to local nonprofit organizations in support of energy conservation projects: Lisbon Historical Society, Inc., $51,325.70 to support energy upgrades to Burnham Tavern; Connecticut Audubon Society, $21,390 for energy conservation modifications to the Pomfret facility; and St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich, Inc., $57,284.
