‘Matilda the Musical' opens April 24 at the Bradley
PUTNAM — The second offering of the Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut at the Bradley Playhouse’s 2026 season is something the whole family will enjoy. Roald Dahl’s ”Matilda the Musical” opens on April 24 and runs for three weekends. This high-energy romp is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life and dares to change her own destiny.
Performances are at 7 p.m. April 24, 25 and May 1, 2, 8, 9 and at 2 p.m. April 26 and May 3 and 10. Tickets are $32 for adults and $29 for seniors, students, veterans and first responders (including fees). The TNECT production of “Matilda the Musical” is directed by Rachel Terceira. Dr. E. Justin Simone is music director and Catie Verostick is the choreographer. Corinne Sweeney appears as Matilda. Her parents are played by Samara Klion and Sophia Pontbriand as Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood. Kaitlyn Nusz is her teacher, Miss Honey, and Larissa Laver plays the evil Agatha Trunchbull. Kiku Langford McDonald is librarian Mrs. Phelps and Matilda’s best friend Lavender is played by Lillian Bengtson. The cast is completed by an energetic ensemble of adults and school children who sing and dance their way through this exhilarating musical.

Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and many more of the world’s best-loved children’s stories. He remains one of the world’s greatest storytellers. His first children’s story, James and the Giant Peach, was published in 1961 and was a huge hit. Every subsequent book became a best-seller.
