PUTNAM --- During the next several months the Putnam Police Department, in partnership with the Connecticut State Liquor Control, will be conducting alcohol compliance checks at bars, restaurants, and/or package stores.
These checks will be done to ensure local businesses are not serving or selling alcohol to anyone under the age of 21.
The Putnam Police Department has received a grant to fund this enforcement from the Northeast Communities Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (NECASA).
Under state law any permittee or any servant or agent of a permittee who sells or delivers alcoholic liquor to any minor shall be fined not more than $1,500  or imprisoned not more than 18 months or both.
