Scholarship offered
The Zonta Club of Quinebaug Valley is accepting applications for the Harriet Z. Macht Scholarship, awarded to a local woman currently enrolled in an education program preparing to return to the workforce. Submit an essay describing yourself, your circumstances and indicate specifically what the monetary award of $300 would be used for. The name and telephone number of the designated educational facility, as well as one personal reference, should be included. Applications are due by Aug. 10. On dean's list
BOSTON --- Brianna Strunk of Putnam was named to the dean's list for the 2009 fall semester at Lasell College. A sophomore, she's majoring in fashion and retail merchandising.
Graduation
NEW HAVEN --- Jay Peter Salvas of Putnam received a master's of fine arts in graphic design during commencement May 24, 2010, at Yale University. Salvas graduated from Putnam High School in 1995 and earned a bachelor's of fine arts in 2005 from Rhode Island School of Design. He is the son of Warren G. and Lorraine J. Salvas of Putnam.
