PUTNAM ---  As part of this season’s free events, the Town of Putnam is welcoming an evening of well-known and beloved opera arias and ensembles with the Hartford Festival Orchestra and Singers at 7:30 p.m. July 17 at Rotary Park Bandstand with Master of Ceremonies and host  Enzo Boscarino. Plus, River Fire begins at intermission and goes until  10 p.m.
Opera al Fresco 201.0 is conceived and produced by Music Director Brian Sparks who has international credits at venues in Rome, Italy, Morelia, Mexico and St.  Petersburg, Russia. i.e has performed with the New York Pops, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra and the U.S. Coast Guard Band. Sparks is the also the music director of the popular Jump, Jive and Swing al Fresco with the Brian Sparks Smokin' Hot Big Band and Guitar Under the Stars concerts featuring the Hartford Festival Orchestra and the Daniel Salazar Ensemble.
Sparks said, "If you think you’d enjoy a moonlit evening listening to some of the worlds most immortal opera classics—join me, the Hartford Festival Orchestra, and the Hartford Festival Singers at Rotary Park overlooking the Quinebaug River. While hearing some of the most beloved Italian opera arias, duets, trios and quartets from Mozart, Verdi, Rossini and Bernstein, you can savor dinner and wine available from some of the finest restaurants in Putnam. Both novice and seasoned opera lovers will enjoy this truly unique program.”
