PUTNAM --- The Day Kimball Hospital Woman’s Board recently donated $15,000 towards the group’s $217,000 pledge to Day Kimball Hospital made in March of 2009. The pledge was used to purchase a state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system for the emergency department. In total, the Woman’s Board has donated $50,000 towards their pledge, solely from hospital gift shop proceeds. “The Woman’s Board is pleased to support Day Kimball Healthcare and contribute to the organization’s technological advancements,” said Paul Schimmel.
“This system assists us in diagnosing potential or actual critical medical conditions,” said Ann Dion, emergency department nurse director. “These machines are truly life savers.”
The new system monitors blood pressure, pulse rate, heart rhythm, respirations, oxygen level and temperature. The Woman’s Board purchased the entire system for Day Kimball’s Emergency Department which included six permanent bedside units and six portable units that can be used anywhere in the Emergency Department or in the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
