PUTNAM --- The Wine Cellar on Pomfret Street may now face administrative action before the Liquor Control Commission after it failed a compliance check of package stores and grocery stores.
June 25 the Putnam Police Department and the state Dept. of Consumer Protection Liquor Control conducted compliance checks of package stores and grocery stores in Putnam that sell alcohol.  Police said The Wine Cellar sold alcohol to a 19 year-old volunteer trained and provided by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership.
The following passed: Godley Spirits, Sunny's Discount Liquor, Putnam Discount Liquors, Putnam Spirits Inc., Uncle Dan's Wine, Beer & Booze, Price Chopper and Putnam Supermarket.
The survey came after a Northeast Communities Against Substance Abuse grant.
