WOODSTOCK --- The town's garage will get a new lease on life. Town officials broke ground last week for the $2.9 million dollar salt shed and expansion and renovation of the town's garage.
Public Works Director John Navarro said the new salt shed will be first on the list and officials are "shooting for Oct. 1" for a finish date.
That will be in time for the upcoming winter season.
"Remediation and resloping" of the property near the shed will be done. The old salt shed has already been demolished.
Following that, they hope to get in the footings and foundation for the truck and equipment storage building. Currently the town's equipment and trucks are stored outside.
The garage will be put up over the winter. The current garage, built around 1969-1970, will be gutted.
Two small additions will be put on and the building will be renovated.
Navarro said the fuel depot will be reconfigured and a canopy will be installed.
The entire project should be finished by June 2011, he said. "We've very excited about the project."
