Pauline Weaver,
mother of 2
PUTNAM — Pauline A. Weaver, 82, of East Putnam Road, died Aug. 9, 2010, in Regency Heights Nursing Home. Born in 1928 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Elmar and Delia (Cote) Hart.
Mrs. Weaver worked as a textile worker for National Patent Medical and Acme Cotton. She served as a union president of the AFL-CIO. She loved to travel. Her favorite places included Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal.
She leaves her daughters, Karen Budney (Brian) of Danielson, and Melody Loiselle and her close friend Glen Clark of Putnam; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earnest “John” Hart, Edmond “Blackie” Hart, and Leo Hart; her sister, Rita Bennett.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 13 at St. Joseph Church, Dayville with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.
Marie L. Coates,

PUTNAM — Marie L. Coates, 73, of Marshall Street, died unexpectedly Aug. 14, 2010, at the Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Coates III, who died Nov. 4, 2004.
She was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Uxbridge, Mass., daughter of the late Henri and Marcella (Ledoux) Bedard. Marie was a communicant of St Mary of the Visitation Church in Putnam where she served as a lector for several years. She has made her home in Putnam since 1971.
She enjoyed knitting, doing word searches and coloring Fuzzy Posters.
She leaves her sons, Michael Grassini of Putnam, Steven Grassini (Ruth) of Danielson, Scott Grassini of Danielson, Fred Decoster Jr. of Brooklyn; two daughters, Elizabeth Ponzi (Joseph) of Danielson and Michelle Smith (Bruce) of Moosup; one brother Jeffrey Bernard of Alabama; sisters Christine Castonguay (Donald) of Putnam; Celeste Lee of Alabama and Charlotte Bernard of Maryland; grandchildren: Bruce, Tyler, David Samantha and Timothy and a great-grandson Mason Lee;
The Funeral will be at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 19 from Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, followed by a noon Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of The Visitation Church with burial at St. Mary Cemetery. Theresa A. Alexander,

PUTNAM — Theresa A. Alexander, 82, of Providence Street, died Aug. 10, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Alexander, Sr. Born in 1928 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Elzear and Laura (Gagne) Guertin.
Mrs. Alexander worked as a bobbin winder for Belding Heminway in Putnam for 25 years, retiring in 1963. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
She leaves two sons and their families, Charles W. Alexander Jr., (Mary), and their daughter Chelsea of Abington, and Michael A. Alexander, his partner Laurie Wlaszkiewicz, and their children, Jesse and Robyn of Putnam. She was predeceased by brothers, Romeo, Edward, and Ernest Guertin; sisters, Pauline Augusto and Florence Jolley. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home and burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Central Village. ‘Bob’ Pawlikowski
CENTRAL VILLAGE — Leon R. Pawlikowski, 69, of Kennedy Drive, died Aug. 13, 2010, in Tobey Hospital, Wareham, Mass. Born in Willimantic, he was the son of the late Leon and Sylvia (Koski) Pawlikowski.
Mr. Pawlikowski worked as an artificial inseminator in the dairy industry for Eastern A.I. and Genex. He was a member of the N.R.A and the Appalachian Mountain Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and gardening.
He leaves his son, Robert Pawlikowski (Judy) of Rome, N.Y.; daughter Candice Guli (Jim) of Pomfret Center; grandchildren, Celeste, Randy, Todd, Casey, Cody, and Corinne; former wife, Barbara Pawlikowski McDuffie of Putnam; brother, Arnold Pawlikowski, (Eileen) of Hampton; his close friend, Deb Chieppa of Sterling; and his beloved dog Lily.

Arthur St. Jean,
Vietnam war vet
WOODSTOCK --- Arthur Maurice St. Jean, 62, of Rt. 171, Woodstock, died unexpectedly Aug. 12, 2010.. He was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Putnam; the eldest child of Maurice St. Jean and Marguerite (Renaud) St. Jean.
He leaves his wife and soul-mate Linda (Johnson) St. Jean; son Jason St. Jean (Jennifer) of Linwood, N.J.; step daughters Jennifer Harris, Angela Withers and her fiancée Steve Nowakowski; mother Marguerite St. Jean of Brooklyn; sisters Mary Corey of Killingly, Leona Mainville of Brooklyn, Gail St. Jean of Brooklyn, and Doreen Berube of Killingly; grandchildren Samantha, Allison, Sebastian, Madison, Elijah, and Laura; great-grandson Jason. He was predeceased by his father Maurice St. Jean of Brooklyn.
Arthur was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 through 1969 earning a Bronze Star, a Bronze Star with V Device, and a Purple Heart. He worked several years at Builders Village in Killingly, and several more in the facilities department of Crabtree & Evelyn in Woodstock. In his free time he was an avid fisherman and bird-watcher.

David A. DeParasis,
father of 4
THOMPSON — David A. DeParasis, 75, of Porter Plain Road, died unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital. Mr. DeParasis, a son of Edward and Maria (Poretta) DeParasis, was born in Williamsport on Nov. 7, 1934.
He was a finishing foreman for Williamsport Manufacturing Company, but relocated to North Grosvenordale, CT in 1956 with Jens Risom Design until they closed, working with Ethan Allen and Helikon until he retired.
For many years, he was a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 66, in Thompson, a Lifetime member of the Woodstock Fair and a Woodstock Fair Committee Member, helping with Entertainment. He was a partner of the Red Chimney Hunting Lodge in Pennsylvania. His hobbies included coin collecting, photography, woodworking, and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Askey) DeParasis; children, David “Barry”, of Dayville; Michele Chin (Al) of Billerica, Mass., Brian of Plainfield and Melanie Manzoli, at home; nine grandchildren: Stacey DeParasis, Maddie D. Chin, Heather, Holly and Brian DeParasis, Michael, Chris, Shawn (Sandra) Hamilton and Matthew Smart, as well as two great-grandchildren, Grant and Alexander; brothers and sister; Orlando, Vittorio (Sarah), Edward (Marie) of Williamsport, Penn.; Silvio (Donna) of Jersey Shore, Penn.; Joseph (Jane) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Amelia (Ken) Rinker of Montoursville, Penn.. He was predeceased by his parents, an adopted sister, Linda Walton and two infant brothers.

Edward J. Ziobrowski,
WWII vet
MANCHESTER — Edward J. Ziobrowski, 92, died Aug. 10, 2010, at home. Born in 1918, in Fitchburg, Mass., he was the son of the late Frank and Eva (Jankot) Ziobrowski.
He was the husband of the late Jeannette (Bartocha) Ziobrowski for 57 years.
Mr. Ziobrowski was a highly decorated member of the Army serving in WWII as well as the Korean conflict. He also served in the Army Reserves retiring in 1978 as sergeant first class. Ed worked for over 30 years as a mail carrier in Putnam, Brooklyn, and Pomfret Center.
He and Jeannette retired to Lakeland, Fla., and enjoyed 23 years at Foxwood Lake Estates before he returned to Connecticut five years ago. Ed was also a member of the Putnam Polish Club, serving as the financial secretary; and the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523.
He leaves sons, Joseph Ziobrowski (Susan) of Manchester, and John Ziobrowski of Chepachet; daughters, Ann Parziale (Thomas) of Rye, N.H., and Stephanie Ziobrowski and her husband David Barbour of Barnardsville, N.C.; brother Edwin Ziobrowski (Delores) of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Stasia Ziobrowski of Danbury, and Blanche Mayo (Bernard) of Putnam; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ed’s family from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 21 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with a Christian Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Richard Snow Sr.,

Richard Edward Snow Sr. died July 28, 2010. He was born in 1916 in Providence to Asa Raymond Snow of Pawtucket and Florence Pratt Snow of Chelsea, Mass., and raised in Cranston, RI. After graduating from high school he received his training in architectural engineering from the Rhode Island School of Design and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for two years to augment his education.
He worked for his father Asa in real estate development and helped to develop the town of Cranston in the pre-WW II days.
Along with others, he and his late wife Fannie Dodge Snow founded the Woodridge Congregational Church in Cranston.
He was in the U.S. Navy with the Bureau of Ships as Field Supervisor and in Ship Construction for the USA and the UK.
He returned to Cranston after WWII to work for the City of Cranston building schools and for Howe and Prout, Architects as Chief Designer and Engineer. Richard became noted for designing and building schools and hospitals throughout Rhode Island, Richard then spent eight years as the Chief Architectural Engineer for Rexall Drug and Chemical Co., Plastics Division designing and supervising construction of Tupperware plants in the USA, Japan, Australia, Canada, England, Mexico, South Africa, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Philippines, and Formosa.
The remaining years of work were spent in building projects such as Roger Williams Hospital in RI and schools in RI, MA, and CT, including Killingly and Putnam Middle Schools.
Dick and Fannie became residents of Thompson in the mid 1960s and then Putnam. in the1980s after being long-time residents of Coventry, R.I. After retiring in the 1990s he continued to design their own homes as well as homes and additions of others.
Dick Snow was also a horse breeder and trainer, dog lover, golfer, yachtsman, artist, mentor, humorist, jokester, and unmatched storyteller.
He leaves his sons Richard Edward Snow Jr. of Groton, and David Dodge Snow (Leslie) of Putnam; sister, Marion Sinnott of Harwich, Mass.; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Fannie Dodge Snow in 2007; sister Elizabeth Stebbins.
A fond farewell and remembrance will be held for both Dick and Fannie at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, in North Kingstown, R.I..
