POMFRET --- It got off to a slow start, but the first annual "Celebrity Croquet Tournament," which ran in conjunction with the annual Positively Pomfret event, raised more than $200 for the Pomfret Food Pantry.
The 6 Wicket Celebrity Croquet Tournament saw town officials compete against residents, all in good fun and to benefit the Pomfret Food Pantry.
Taking part, from the town side were: John Dilioro, Tony Emilio, Maureen Nicholson, Richard and Leah Shad. Some of the celebrities and players were a little intimated when they first saw the layout and equipment but quickly got the hang of the game, said Ford Fay. He added, "Donations in the amount of $218 were made to the Food Pantry and everyone had a good time."
