PUTNAM --- Mark your calendars for Nov. 20 for the annual Putnam Artisan Holiday Market sponsored by the Putnam Arts Council. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverview Marketplace on Kennedy Drive. Local artisans will offer a wide range of handmade items including selections for everyone’s taste and pocketbook. Shoppers will find jewelry, sculpture, pottery, toiletries, birdhouses, stained glass, and woven and knitted items and more. Also on sale will be traditional holiday greenery arrangements.
This year a bit of Putnam’s history will be available for sale in hand-painted, clay, roof tiles from the historic Putnam train station. Several local artists have painted the tiles with beautiful, local, and whimsical scenes. Caroll Spinney, Tim Oliver, Nancy Doughtery, Julie Caprera, Karen McFarlin, Donna O.S.Lange, Cindy Obert, Bernice Harmyk, and Ann Rosebrooks have graciously donated their work to this Arts Council fund-raiser. The tiles are currently on display in the window of Arts & Framing on Main Street.
In case of inclement weather you will find us at 135 Main St., in the old Cargill Trust building. Please contact Jane St. Onge of the Putnam Arts Council at 928-9523 for information.
