(Wittke) Moore
DAYVILLE —  Dorothy E. (Wittke) Moore, 85, formerly of Hartford Pike, Dayville, died Nov. 6, 2010, in Regency Heights of Norwich.  She was the wife of the late John Moore Sr.  Born in 1925 in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Henry “Hans” and Margaret (Zanis) Wittke.
Mrs. Moore enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and crocheting.
She leaves her sons, John Moore (Brenda) of Enfield, William Moore (Robin) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Gary Moore (Loretta) of Coventry; daughter, Margaret Slattery (Dan) of Florida; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Sybil Dauray,

POMFRET — Sybil Root Dauray, 79, of Pomfret Center and Nantucket and formerly of Uxbridge, Mass., died  Nov. 9, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Wife of John M. Dauray, they were married, Jan. 25, 1953. She was born April 19, 1931, in Providence,  daughter of the late Charles A. Root Jr., and Helen Rixford.
Sybil attended Dana Hall and the Garland Schools in Boston. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution for 50 years. 
She leaves her husband of 57 years John; three daughters, Diane Esposito of Florida, Deborah Newman of Oregon and Holly Dauray of Connecticut;  two sisters,  Nancy Bovenzi of Worcester, Diana Hayden of Stony Creek; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Charles Dauray; grandson Wesley Bernklow and granddaughter Bethany Dauray.

Roland E. Chenail,

WAUREGAN — Roland E. Chenail, 85, died Nov. 8, 2010, at home. He was the  husband of Georgette S. (Frechette) Chenail for 64 years. 
Born June 30, 1925, in Wauregan, he was the son of the late Emil A. and Albertine (Charland) Chenail. As a young man, Roland was employed at Elm Crest Farm, Wauregan Mills and also worked with his father delivering milk to homes in Moosup.  In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and he served on board the USS Elliot DMS4 in the waters off California and Oahu, Hawaii, working out of Pearl Harbor, the USS Curtis AV4 in the South Pacific area through the end of WWII and he spent Christmas 1945 on leave in Shanghai, China and later moved to Tokyo Bay for New Years 1946.  Upon discharge in March 1946 he went back to work at Wauregan Mills and reunited with his childhood sweetheart.  They were married at All Hallows Church in Moosup on Aug. 10, 1946.
Roland retired at 62 years of age as Safety Director from Pervel Industries in Plainfield.  He had been employed for 39 years and held many different positions within the company. Within his 23 years of retirement, he enjoyed working in the yard, travelling, going to the Bradley Theatre, attending learning in retirement classes at QVCC, going to the library and eating out at restaurants. He also served over 20 years as secretary for the Wauregan Fire District.  He was a life member of the VFW in Plainfield, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter Cathleen A. Johnson (Allen) of Argyle, Texas; daughter Susan L. Hawes of Moosup and her three children Nicholas, Andrew and Miranda; his son David R. Chenail (Christine) of Brooklyn and their two sons Devin and Daniel.

Edith Ross,

PUTNAM — Edith Ross, 92,  of Putnam, sister, caregiver and educator, died Nov. 14, 2010, at home. She was the daughter of the late George and Bessie Ross.
She leaves her twin sister Eleanor of Putnam; extended family in Richmond, Virginia. She was predeceased by a brother Asa.

Margaret Dukeshire,

DANIELSON — Margaret M. Dukeshire, 87, of Davis Avenue, died Nov. 7, 2010, at Westview Health Care Center.
Born June 20, 1923, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mae (Geoghegn) Johnson. She moved from England to New York then to Connecticut and made her home in Danielson. She loved to cook, was an avid gardener and had a great love for animals.
She leaves her husband William Dukeshire of Danielson; son Keith and his wife Bonnie Pitchford of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; grandson Michael Pitchford, and a great-granddaughter Daisy Pitchford; stepdaughter Pamela DeHaan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
A graveside service was Nov. 9 at Westfield Cemetery, Danielson. Donations: Alzheimer’s Foundation.  Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.

Leo G. Lussier,

BALLOUVILLE — Leo G. Lussier, 87, of Ballouville died Nov. 14, 2010, at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Putnam, he was the son of the late Theodore and Dolores (Desautels) Lussier. He was married on Nov. 25, 1944 to Rita Aubin. She died in 2005.
He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Church in Ballouville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21, Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Assumption Counsel 10454. Leo enjoyed trips to the casino, working outdoors and being in his garden. He was last employed at the former Ames in Dayville.
He leaves his daughter Cheryl Dufault (David) of Ballouville; grandchildren, Danielle Lajeunesse (Lance) of Danielson, Sean Dufault of Ballouville, Chad Dufault (Danielle) of Sterling and two great-grandchildren Madison and Gracie Dufault;  brothers Marcel Lussier of Dayville, Edward Lussier of Central Village;   sister Janet Penson of Canterbury. He was predeceased by siblings Theodore Lussier, Roger Lussier, Lucille LeClair, Rachel Clang and a granddaughter Jill Dufault.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 22 at St. Joseph Church, Dayville, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.

Frank L. Cooley,

DAYVILLE — Frank Cooley,  92, of Dayville, died Nov. 9, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after a brief illness.
He was born May 26, 1918, in Dayville, son of Clarence and Bridgette Cooley. Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was the owner of Ayers Construction for many years. Frank also worked as a deputy sheriff and judicial marshal for the State of Connecticut for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He served as a Chairman of the Killingly Water Pollution Control Authority, the Killingly Board of Finance and the Killingly School Building Committee. Frank was a resident of Alexander’s Lake in Dayville for the past 50 years.
He leaves four sons, Herbert Cooley (Sandra) of Peoria, Ariz., Richard Cooley (Rita) of Clifton, Va., Steven Cooley of Alexander’s Lake, Craig Cooley of Alexander’s Lake; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 13, in St. Joseph Church, Dayville, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson.

Allan Haseltine
PUTNAM — Allan P. Haseltine of Putnam died Oct. 24, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital from complications from a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
He was born Feb. 2, 1942, in Torrington son of Carl P. and Janice (Woods) Haseltine, Allan enjoyed photography, electronics, and social supporter of Friends of Bill W, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
He leaves his cat, Booster.
Alan was laid to rest Nov. 15 in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Keith Parmentier,

THOMPSON — Keith Parmentier Sr., 44, of Quaddick Town Farm Road died Nov. 14, 2010, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a battle with an extended illness.
He was born April 20, 1966, in Putnam son of  William and Gladys Parmentier of Thompson. Keith was a graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School. He loved the outdoors, riding his Harley, four wheeling, camping, fishing, NASCAR, meeting new people and being spontaneous. Keith was a construction worker of various fields - carpentry, concrete, HVAC technician, upon his illness he owned and operated Keith’s Home Improvement.
In addition to his parents he leaves his best friend and companion of 16 years Maureen Demarais of Thompson; son Keith Parmentier Jr., of Thompson; daughter Brittany Beard (Saun) of Texas; one very close sister Danielle Fafard (Gene) of Thompson; brothers Kenny Burwell (Charlotte) of Brooklyn, Todd Burwell of Las Vegas; stepson Tom Rickaby Jr., of Putnam; two grandchildren, Brendan Parmentier and granddaughter Natalia Beard of Texas.
A Graveside Service will be at noon Nov. 19 at Munyan Cemetery, Putnam. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
