Big man Wilson Arob, who stands 6-feet, 9 inches, is taking the next step in his basketball career to North Platte Community College in Nebraska.  Arob verbally committed to play for the Knights of NPCC and 26-year coach Kevin O’Connor. College basketball official signing day is April 4.
Arob, who is originally from Australia, came to Putnam Science Academy as a senior to graduate and move onto a junior college to play basketball and qualify Division 1 after two years.  Arob now is in a great situation as he will be on one of the country’s top junior college hoop programs.
“I’m looking forward to the next step in my academic and athlete career.  I’m hoping that after two years in Nebraska I will be able to move on to a NCAA Division 1 program,” Arob said.
In Arob’s only season with the Putnam Science Academy Mustangs he had a huge role for the school best 20-6 record and Northeast Prep championship.  Arob averaged 9.0 points per game and 8.1 rebounds a game.  Arob was also second on the team in blocks with 1.5 per game.
Arob is currently ranked the #27 player in Connecticut and the #88 player in all of New England by the prestigious New England Recruiting Report.
“Wilson Arob will be missed next year by not just the basketball program but the entire school.  Everyone loves Wilson, he is just that type of kid,” said head coach Tom Espinosa.
Arob is following the footsteps of former PSA Mustang star Rundell Mauge.  Mauge graduated from PSA in 2008 and went on to NPCC and graduated after two years in 2010.  Currently Mauge is a redshirt junior for the Division 1 Pacific University Tigers.
