PUTNAM --- The PSA boys’ basketball team announced the addition of Nate Gause (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) last week,  one of the most highly recruited players the Mustangs have signed.
Gause, a 6-4, 180-pound swingman, helped lead Poughkeepsie high to a 21-1 record this past season. Gause averaged 23 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game and was an All-Section 1, All-League and All-County selection. Gause was given the Bob Stauderman Award by the Dutchess County Boys Basketball Coaches Association as its player of the year, was a nominee for the McDonald’s All-American game and scored over 1,000 career points.
“Nate is a tremendous young man and a very talented basketball player.  Nate will bring us to another level next year,”  said PSA coach Tom Espinosa. “His ability to score and shoot the three is what we needed; he fits perfectly into our system.”
Gause joins Zaquan Nelson (Waterbury), Tyree Robinson (Fall River, Mass.) and Oscar Assie (Bridgeport) for the PSA Mustangs who will begin its sixth varsity basketball season next winter.
