WOODSTOCK – Author Conor Grennan was recently the guest speaker in a series of guest author presentations hosted by Woodstock Academy in partnership with Bracken Memorial Library. An audience of Academy students, faculty, staff and community members were on hand for the event. Grennan provided a photo presentation along with a discussion of his personal story and experiences that led him to write his book.
At 29 Grennan set out to travel the world. One of his stops took him to Nepal to work at an orphanage called Little Princes. Initially this portion of his travels was to be a tone time volunteer opportunity, but that all changed from the moment he was greeted by the children from the orphanage. Grennan discovered that these children were not orphans, but victims of child trafficking. He set up a non-profit agency called Next Generation Nepal which works to reunite he children in Nepal who are victims of child trafficking with their families. His organization has reunited over 400 children with their families. In addition to discussing his book the author also spoke about the importance and meaningfulness of volunteering.
