This is the 1895 barn off Day Road that is the site of the new Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret. The barn had to be razed for construction of the new center, but the new 5,000 square foot building is reminiscent of this barn. Putnam Town Crier file photos.

In November 2010, this is what the new Audubon Grassland Bird Conservation Center looked like.

This photo, taken at the end of May, shows the completed Grassland center. Officials anticipate the $2 million dollar educational facility will be open to the public toward the end of June. A grand opening is tentatively set for Columbus Day.
