The Under-16 NECONN Tigers soccer team will be playing in the Connecticut Final Championship June 18.
The NECONN girls clinched a quarter-final match against Shelton in late May, winning 3-0 in the latter part of the game. Last weekend, the team traveled to Newington, winning a semi-final match 2-0.
The “Connecticut Cup” is a single-elimination statewide tournament which began in May, with more than 20 teams from throughout the state vying for the top spot.
“The team has not been scored on in the past six games,” said coach Syd Blodgett. “The coaches are very proud of how they’ve worked together this season. I feel that their positive, winning attitude is one of the team’s greatest assets.”
The team is also coached by Mark Fillmore, Air Phongsa and Bill Morrone.
