First Friday
celebrated July 1
PUTNAM --- What do you get when you mix a graffitti artist, an opera singer and fire? You get First Fridays in Putnam. Putnam will be alive July 1 with July's First Friday.
The Putnam Business Association's First Fridays feature art shows and demonstrations, live music, dining and shopping specials, Art Attacks and more. Events start at 5 p.m. and many shops will remain open till 8 p.m. or later. Each First Friday will feature Art Attacks, random or spontaneous acts of art.
The July Art Attack will take place in the downtown area near the outdoor patios. This month, First Friday will present three separate Art Attacks featuring the Bradley Playhouse, local opera student Amy Ross Willett and local teacher (Woodstock Academy) and graffiti artist Justin Dupuis.
The main event will feature singer, musician and fire dancer, Spogga Hash. Spogga will perform on the Main Street Stage from 6 to 9 p.m. followed by his fire show.
Putnam Art Attacks and First Fridays are sponsored by the Putnam Business Association and the Putnam Arts Council.
