The Town of Putnam Zoning Board of Appeals held a meeting on June 21, 2011, at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall located at 126 Church Street, Putnam, CT. The following action was taken:
Appeal # 2011-003: David Frost — Request for a variance from Section 720 Schedule of Uses & Districts to operate a Woodworking Shop with a small retail section and an Auto Detailing Shop. Property located at 21 Intervale Street. Town Assessor’s Map 008, Lot 080. Zoned R-7. APPROVED.
Appeal # 2011-004: Mary Haggett — Request for an appeal from the decision of the Zoning Agent for the issuance of a Building Permit to allow a conversion from a commercial use to a single-family use for property located in the Industrial Heritage Overlay District. Property located at 241 Church Street. Town Assessor’s Map 11, Lot 62. APPROVED.
Appeal # 2011-005: Putnam Science Academy, Inc. — Request for a variance from Section 720 Schedule of Uses & Districts to allow for the construction of an additional dormitory at the existing school. Use of the property for the boarding school is a preexisting nonconforming use for which the property continues to be used. A primary purpose for erecting the new building is to allow the school to remain open while updating other buildings to bring the school in compliance with applicable fire and safety codes. Property located at 18 Maple Street. Town Assessor’s Map 015, 79. Zoned R-10. APPROVED.

The Town of Putnam Zoning Commission held a meeting on June 22, 2011, at 7:00 P.M. at 126 Church Street, Putnam, CT. The following action was taken:
Docket # 2011-01: David Dinerman — Request for a zone change for property located at 51 Pomfret Street, most recently occupied by the Furniture Place and Calli Salon, be placed into the Industrial Heritage Overlay District (IHOD) for purposes of future development for retail and commercial use. Town Assessor’s Map 015, Lot 058. Zoned C-3. APPROVED WITH CONDITIONS.
Docket # 2011-03: Michelle Virrelli — Request for a special permit according to Sections 720, (Schedule of Uses & Districts) Section 1111, (Minimum Off Street Parking). The applicant’s request is for an ice cream shop, bakery, candy by the pound, customized gift baskets, along with party/function rooms to be located on the second and third floors. Property located at 36 Church Street, Town Assessor’s Map 015, Lot 38. Zoned R-7. APPROVED. WITH CONDITIONS.

The first installment of taxes, due to the Town of Putnam, Special Service District and West Putnam District on the Grand List of October 1, 2010 is due and payable on July 1, 2011 through August 1, 2011.
TO AVOID INTEREST CHARGES, MAIL MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1, 2011
Payments made after August 1ST 2011 will be subject to an interest charge of 3% (1.5% per month) or $2.00 minimum per Town and $2.00 per Special Service District and District 3 (where applicable), whichever is higher, according to Connecticut State Statute, Sec. 12-146.
Online payments can be made on current Grand List bills at the Town of Putnam website at www.putnamct.us after July 1, 2011.

The July 2011 billing of water and / or sewer collections for the Town of Putnam WPCA is due and payable on July 1, 2011, through August 1, 2011.
Payments made after August 1, 2011, will be subject to an Interest charge of 3% (1.5% per month) or $2.00 minimum whichever is higher, according to Connecticut State Statute SEC. 12-146.
Mail must be postmarked no later than August 1, 2011 to avoid interest charges.
