PUTNAM — Lowe’s of Killingly and Habitat of Northeast CT recently joined forces for the second time in two years to work on the home of a Habitat partner family in recognition of National Woman Build Week.
May 7 female volunteers from Lowe’s and Habitat repaired and screened in the porch of a Habitat homeowner.
The Brush with Kindness project will help the home maintain its sound condition and also included a small landscape task by the volunteers. 
Habitat of Northeast CT  is doing its build in Brooklyn.
To date, female volunteers have built more than 1,800 Habitat houses nationwide during National Women Build Week.
This is the second Women Build event for the local Habitat affiliate. 
Lowe’s has contributed money and gift cards and building materials nationally to the National Women Build Week.
Lowe’s conducts how-to clinics at stores to teach women construction skills and empower them to support Habitat projects across the country.  Lowe’s of Killingly conducted a how-to clinic for the women who will be working on the local project. 
Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit nondenominational Christian housing ministry.
Habitat of NECT exists for the sole purpose of providing simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families in need throughout the 10-town area.  habitatnortheastct.org.
