It was a flawless summer night and the park followed suit.
The annual free al Fresco concert --- this year's edition was Dr. K's Motown Revue --- drew in the crowds like dancers to the dance floor. Rotary Park was packed July 16, filled with an estimated 4,000 folks, according to Putnam Parks and Recreation Director Willie Bousquet.
The revue "wowed the crowd on a beautiful evening," Bousquet said. The dance floor in front of the Bandstand was jammed.
The River Fire that followed, with more than 20 "fire saucers" set aflame in the Quinebaug River at Rotary Park, was also flawless.  "River Fire was gorgeous," Bousquet added.
The free annual concert  was sponsored by the town, Wheelabrator-Putnam and Putnam Bank. Bousquet also thanked WINY Radio, the Department of Public Works and the Putnam Police Department.
