PUTNAM --- Putnam Bank has donated $1,000 to support The Last Green Valley’s annual Walktober celebration. The bank’s donation comes at a critical time for the nonprofit organization and furthers Putnam Bank’s long-standing commitment to promoting and improving the quality of life in this unique and beautiful region through the work of The Last Green Valley (TLGV).
“Putnam Bank has been a strong supporter of TLGV for many years. Not only has the bank donated to this organization, but it has also supported the Green Light Campaign and encouraged its customers to “go green” by awarding free TLGV memberships to customers that switch to paperless banking. TLGV’s work to preserve the region’s significant natural resources and encourage compatible economic revitalization couldn’t happen without the Bank’s support and encouragement,” said Charlene Perkins Cutler, TLGV Executive Director.
Thomas A. Borner, chairman and CEO of Putnam Bank, said, “We are all very fortunate, indeed, to be able to live and work in this beautiful corner of Connecticut. As a community bank, Putnam Bank is dedicated to enriching the lives of the residents in our service area, and we are excited to continue our partnership with TLGV to preserve our heritage.”
TLGV’s Green Light Campaign has a goal of raising $100,000 in donations, memberships and business partnerships for TLGV, the steward of the unique yet fragile region designated a National Heritage Corridor. TLGV was established as a federally-funded organization in 1994, but this funding has declined in recent years and is scheduled to cease in 2015. TLGV must become self-sustaining through the support of residents and businesses that live, work, and play here. The donation by Putnam Bank and many other businesses and residents will help ensure that TLGV can continue to provide a voice for our beautiful valley.
