DANIELSON --- Amy DeSonia, Ph.D.,  was recently named as the dean of academic affairs. at Quinebaug Valley Community College.
She comes from Tidewater Community College in Hampton Roads, Va., where she served as dean of business, social sciences and public service at their Norfolk Campus.
She also served as associate dean for business administration at Baker College in Flint, Mich.
DeSonia is settling into rural northeast Connecticut and QVCC. DeSonia said, “We are thrilled to be living and working in New England and all that the area has to offer.”
She also said, “The academic affairs division at QVCC is comprised of truly committed and talented individuals and I am humbled to have been chosen to lead at a critical time in the college’s history. I am certainly pleased to be included in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the college and the 25th anniversary of the Willimantic center and look forward to serving this wonderful, tight-knit community.”
She holds a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Michigan and a master’s and Ph.D. in public administration from Western Michigan University.
