Wins prize
POMFRET --- Caed William Jones of Pomfret, received the Patrick Wood Memorial Prize during his graduation from Pomfret Community School on June 23.
Patrick Wood was a graduate of Pomfret School, Class of 2001. After Patrick passed away in Jan. 2006, his parents wanted to create something in his memory, something that would serve to encourage future students like Patrick in the northeastern Connecticut area. They approached Pomfret School, which Pat attended after receiving the Peck Scholarship in 1997, about establishing an award in his name to be given to a student possessing the kinds of academic attributes and personal qualities seen in Pat: a strong love of learning, self-discipline, abundant curiosity, and the willingness to share his time and talents for the benefits of others.
Caed Jones will join Pomfret School as a member of the Class of 2015.
During the graduation exerrcises, Bob Wood said, “As this year’s recipient, Caed represented an intangible quality that is equally important as merit. "
Yes, he has tremendous ability, but what we also admired is his character. He strives for others, not just himself. And this is what set Pat apart
