By Joe West
Head boys’ basketball coach Tom Espinosa announced the signing of 6-foot, 8-inch, 180-pound guard Shaun Lawton from Harlem, N.Y. Lawton played at Lutheran High School in Long Island and led the team this past year to the New York state championship.
Lawton averaged 17 points and 5 rebounds per game this past season for the 26-4 Crusaders. The strong guard is known for his defense and athletic ability on the court.
“I think Shaun is one of the premiere athletes that I have coached here at PSA,” said head coach Tom Espinosa. “We are very excited to have him here in Putnam. Shaun brings much more than basketball to this team; he is a leader, a winner and a great kid.”
Lawton will be joining returning super sophomore Tyree Robinson (Fall River, Mass.), freshman Johnny Joseph (Brockton, Mass.), junior Dayshon Smith (Bronx, N.Y.), senior Oscar Assie (Bridgeport) and senior Keon Scott (Pocono, Penn.).
