THOMPSON --- The Marianapolis 2011 Day Student Open House attracted nearly 400 visitors to the school, despite the early fall snow that complicated travel for many in the area.
During panel discussions hosted by students and parents, visitors had an opportunity to ask questions about the school. Families also toured the campus, hearing about daily life at MPS from its current students. Throughout the afternoon, visitors were able to meet faculty, view academic exhibits, and learn about clubs, weekend activities and athletics. Guests also enjoyed homemade refreshments served by the school’s MOMs group in the Dining Room, where many current parents were on hand to answer questions and speak informally about the school.
Attendees heard from Head of School Joseph Hanrahan, who described the types of students who find a place at Marianapolis, “from the eighth graders who consider themselves shy and reserved to those who are already blossoming leaders, the community welcomes and nurtures all of its young adults to become their very best selves.” As a newcomer to Marianapolis himself, Hanrahan said that he has been “delighted by the array of resources students enjoy,” adding, “I can assure you, the culture, the care, the support, the academics – it’s all here.”
After the event, Admissions Director Dan Harrop said he and his staff, were “energized to meet so many wonderful area families and share what makes Marianapolis such as special school and community.
