Program kicked off
WOODSTOCK — Hyde School kicked off its mentoring program recently with Woodstock Middle School. The mentoring program has steadily grown in size and interest since its launch in 2008. This year, the program has 25 student pairs.
The program was started with the purpose of continuing Hyde School’s philosophy of leadership and concern, and it has been well received by both Hyde School and Woodstock Middle School students.
Members of the mentoring program will meet once a week over lunch at the middle school in order to connect and to talk about how things are going.
“The younger students really enjoy connecting with the older students, and our students get a lot out of it,” said Donna Dubinsky, head of the mentoring program. “As a student said last year, ‘I thought I was going to be helping out a younger student and realized quickly that I was getting as much out of it as he was.’”
