WOODSTOCK ---- Woodstock Academy students recently attended a presentation hosted by !MPACT, also known as Mourning Parents ACT, Inc. The nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate tragedies caused by inexperienced drivers through awareness, education and legislation reached out to Academy students about the dangers of unsafe driving practices and the need to make good choices especially when behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Presenter Donna Jenner spoke about the car accident which took the lives of her two children, Anthony Apruzzese, 17, and Jessica Apruzzese, 14, along with one of their friends in 2007.
Jenner started what seemed to be a normal day and in an instant it was changed forever. After receiving a call that her children had been in a car accident, Donna drove to the scene that is every parent’s nightmare. Her children had died on impact and their friend died shortly thereafter. Academy students listened as Jenner retold her heart-wrenching story with the hope that her presentation will send a message of how students can prevent more tragedies from happening. Dean of Students, Jonathan Grossman coordinated the presentation bringing the need for awareness to Academy students. With the impending winter, student activities such as sporting events and prom, many Academy students will be behind the wheel or a passenger in a friend’s vehicle.
