PUTNAM --- Nov. 25 marked the beginning of another year of bell ringing for members of the Putnam Regional Interact Club. This campaign benefits the Salvation Army in the Putnam area and money collected stays in the Putnam area to help those left fortunate, not only during the holidays but throughout the year.
Putnam Regional Interact Club is an International teen service club sponsored by a local Rotary Club, in this case Putnam Rotary. Although they perform several community service projects throughout the year, the Salvation Army bell ringing campaign is the largest. Interact advisers and members of Putnam Rotary continuously make rounds during all shifts.
"Teens from Interact and their friends and classmates will be ringing the bell at Putnam Supermarket, Price Chopper, Walmart, Super Stop 'n Shop and Sear Essentials from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are confident the people of Putnam will once again show their generosity through donations," said advisers.“
The teens will be ringing the bells Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 24.
The 3rd and 10th will be mostly students from Putnam Science Academy who have been a tremendous force in the success. The 24th will see the kids ringing the bell for only two shifts beginning at 9:00 am and ending at 3 p.m.
Shifts for the other days begin at 9:00 am and end at 5 p.m.
