Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce President Jay Sinha announced the recipients of the 2012 annual awards will be recognized at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner & Awards Gala Jan. 20 at the Thompson Raceway Restaurant.

Civic Achievement Award: Clifford Buttermark of Pomfret
George J. Racine, Sr. Humanitarian Award: Jean M. Cyr, Director of Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson
Business Leader of the Year Award: Gary and Karen Osbrey of WINY Radio Station
Gold Key Award: Nick and Judy Haines
Cliff Buttermark is being recognized with the Civic Achievement Award as a result of his dedicated service with numerous non-profit organizations of the region including the Access agency, the Pomfret Lions Club, Christ Church of Pomfret and Day Kimball Healthcare. Cliff has logged over 1,373 hours at Day Kimball where he has served since May of 2004. In 2009, Cliff was recognized by the Pomfret Lions Club with the Helen Keller inspired award entitled “Knight of the Blind” for his work with low vision projects.
A true humanitarian, Jean Cyr has served as a tireless volunteer at the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry for 21 years. As Director, she not only feeds the hungry and oppressed of the region, but also provides spiritual counsel. In November of 2010, Cyr and her staff of more than 30 community volunteers assisted 376 families with a Thanksgiving feast. 
Gary and Karen Osbrey of WINY Radio Station are being recognized with the Business Leader of the Year Award for outstanding business leadership and active participation in community organizations. They live by the motto, “duty and responsibility to community”. A mere sampling of their involvement includes: Day Kimball Healthcare Capital Campaign Community Chairs, Putnam Rotary, Rotary District 7890, QVCC Foundation, Putnam Business Association, Daily Bread Food Bank, and founders of Holiday Dazzle Light Parade. WINY Radio Station became the voice of information when thousands were left without power during Tropical Storm Irene and weeks later the season’s first nor’easter.
The Chamber’s Gold Key is presented for outstanding service to the Northeastern CT Chamber of Commerce. Nick and Judy Haines have been long-time supporters of the Chamber for nearly 35 years. In 2000, Nick was asked to serve on the Board of Directors and ultimately served as president in 2010. Throughout Nick’s entire tenure with the Chamber, Judy not only provided support for Nick, but also for the Chamber.
