The Northeast Cultural Alliance has been awarded a matching grant for fiscal year 2012 from the CT Local Arts Agencies Cultural Leadership Program in the amount of $30,000 to support the program’s criteria of Cultural Leadership, Responsiveness to the Community, Management and Organizational Health through services and programs offered to the regional communities.
The Northeast Cultural Alliance will support and promote the arts and cultural endeavors in the twelve towns of the Northeast Connecticut Council of Governments: Ashford, Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson, Union and Woodstock. The Alliance will represent  individual artists, cultural organizations, patrons, community leaders, heritage organizations, libraries, arts-related businesses, local governments, chambers of commerce, economic development commissions and many other community sectors.
The Alliance is committed to broadening the reach and visibility of the region’s existing creative enterprises, its creative workforce and cross-sector relationships thus strengthening the community’s cultural assets and resources.
The Alliance will launch its new programming and memberships in late spring to represent all these sectors of the creative economy in “place-making” or making this region’s quality of life a viable and culturally abundant place for people to live and work.
