Mary Harrington
Patenaude
POMFRET — Mary Harrington Patenaude, 66, died Aug. 19, 2012, in a tragic boating accident while on her boat, Priceless.
Mary lived in Pomfret with her husband David. They were married Aug. 16, 1967.
Mary was born Sept. 2, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Mee) Harrington.
She was the proprietor of the Pomfret Spirit Shoppe and Wine Shed. Originally from Beachwood, N.J., Mary graduated from St. Rose High School in Toms River, N.J. before earning her bachelor’s degree from Boston College as a member of the Class of 1967.
Mary was involved with several civic organizations including the Day Kimball Hospital Board, past director of the Putnam Area Chamber of Commerce, president of the South Cemetery in Pomfret, Pomfret Republican Town Committee, Board of Directors of Putnam Bank, Hospice Tree of Life and Community Cultural Committee (3 C’s). Her support for community was matched only by her love of life and family.
In addition to her husband, David, she leaves her son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Rebecca Patenaude of Pomfret; her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer Patenaude and Brad Fitts of Acton, Mass.; four grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Fitts, Rori MacKenzie and Hattie Patenaude.
A Memorial Service was Aug. 25 in the Chapel at Pomfret School. Donations: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Dr., New Haven, CT 06511.  Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Nancy J. Wachter
WOODSTOCK VALLEY — Nancy J. Wachter, 67, of Woodstock Valley died Aug. 14, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. She was the wife of Emory Wachter. They were married Aug. 9, 1963.
She was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Putnam, daughter of the late Arthur and Velma (Pecor) Pierce.
She lived in Woodstock Valley all her life and enjoyed quilting and crafting.
Nancy leaves  two daughters: Willow Gaytan-Briere (Jamie) of Killingly, Rainnie Wachter (Ernie) of Putnam; grandchildren, Megan, Miranda, Savanah;  a sister of the heart Leatha Roome of Putnam; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Dawn Wachter who died in 2002 and her three siblings.
Calling hours were Aug. 21 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Joseph E. Thomas
BROOKLYN — Joseph E. Thomas, 69, of Brooklyn died Aug. 20, 2012, at Umass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
He was the husband of Theresa Thomas.
Born Aug. 9, 1943, in Norwich, he was the son of the late Claudio and Cathrine (Keough) Gabriel.  Joseph was a member of the American Legion in Norwich.
In addition to his wife of 25 years Theresa Thomas, he leaves a son Richard O’Brien (Paula); daughter Tracy Barks O’Brien; stepson Norman Tetreault (Denise); stepdaughters Norma Jean Roberts (Dennis), Cindy Belfi (Michael), Kathy Rizer (Butch); brothers William Edward (Gail), James Edwards (Mona); sister Margeret Rudker; a special brother Robert (Linda); grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister Kathrine and brother Paul.
The Funeral was Aug. 25 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.

David R. St. Jean,
Vietnam war vet
WOODSTOCK — David Robert St. Jean, 62, of Quasset Road, died unexpectedly Aug. 25, 2012. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Briotti) St. Jean. They were married Oct. 23, 1973.
He was born March 5, 1950, in Putnam, son of the late Edgar and Helen (Clark) St. Jean.
He attended St. Mary School, Woodstock Elementary and Woodstock Academy all before graduating from Ellis Technical School. David was a veteran of Vietnam serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret where he was a Eucharistic Minister. David loved all sports including a new love of golf in recent years. He loved spending time on Quasset Lake, waterskiing, going for boat rides.
He leaves his wife Mary Ann St. Jean; daughter Deborah (St. Jean) Roux (Michael) of New Hampshire; son David St. Jean of Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandson Joshua Roux; granddaughter Rileigh Roux;  sister Pauline Stiles;  brothers Edgar St. Jean (Susie), Ernie St. Jean (Peggy), John St. Jean (Janine), Larry St. Jean (Gail).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 30 at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret St., Pomfret, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, with military honors. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Stuart Field,
auto mechanic
BROOKLYN — Stuart Allen Field, 63, died Aug. 13, 2012, at UMass Memorial Health Care - University Campus, Worcester.
Stuart was born in Putnam, son of the late Harold and Fay (Tellett) Field.  He was an auto mechanic for many years.
He leaves three sons, Matthew Field of Adams, Tenn., Todd Field of Brooklyn, and Trevor Field of Brooklyn; six grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will at 10 a.m. Sept. 1 in the Congregational Church of Putnam, 175 Main St., Putnam.  Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Dayville.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.

Shirley A. Zacksher,

DANIELSON —  Shirley A. Zacksher, 80, of Danielson, died Aug. 14, 2012, at Regency Heights of Danielson.
She was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Herbert and Edith (Hargreaves) Hannah Miller. She was married to Victor G. Zacksher on Aug. 13, 1955.
Mrs. Zacksher worked at Bonneville Pharmacy in Danielson for many years. She was a member of the South Killingly Congregational Church.
Besides her husband of 57 years, she leaves her children, Marc Zacksher of Danielson, Eric Zacksher of Danielson, Aaron Zacksher of Washington and Lore Langlois (David) of Danielson; brothers, Russell Hannah of New Jersey, Stuart Hannah of New Jersey, and Gordon Hannah (Dawn) of Norwich; grandchildren, Joshua Zacksher and Brittany Zacksher. She was predeceased by her sister Irene Baird.
A Memorial Service will be at noon Sept. 15 at The South Killingly Congregational Church, Danielson.
