POMFRET — A Sunflower Celebration fund-raiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 2 at Lapsley Orchards on Rt. 169, to benefit children’s programming at United Services
Co-chairs of the event, Joy Nelson, a former Board of Directors member and Edie Roberts, former executive assistant at United Services announced that John and Patti Wolchesky of Lapsley Orchards will donate all the proceeds from the sunflower sales to United Service’s new Center for Autism, serving all of Eastern Connecticut.
Activities to enjoy during the day are apple picking, wagon rides, the return of “Dudley Doodles,” the clown and his young clown buddy, “Buddy”, sunflower face painting, sunflower balloons for children of all ages, the appearance of country singer Monty McClanahan and of course beautiful bouquets of sunflowers.
