PSA baseball team splits doubleheader with Winchendon
PUTNAM — Putnam Science Academy baseball earned a split in Saturday’s doubleheader against Winchendon, exploding for a dominant win in Game 1 before falling in a tight Game 2.
The Mustangs were unstoppable at the plate in the opener, racking up 16 hits in a true offensive clinic. Seven different PSA players had multi-hit games, with Janvier Diaz leading the way by going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Denzel Rincon was locked in as well, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, and four RBIs. Jayson Serrano added to the firepower, going 2-for-4 with a double. The winning score was unavailable.
Game 2 was a much tighter contest, as PSA dropped a 3-2 decision. Left-hander Jayson Serrano got the start on the mound and gave the Mustangs five solid innings, exiting with the game tied at 2-2 before Winchendon pushed across the eventual game-winning run.
